There are 6 color options to choose from for most replicas. The color comes from two main sources. First the resin, foam, or polyresin is pigmented with dyes that binds to the polymer matrix itself. This gives the primary base color. The secondary black, tan, and brown colors come from iron oxides, sands, and soils that I apply into the mold before casting, thereby giving my casts a multicolored look. No paints are used on any of my work. All colors are chemically bonded in the resin or from natural sources.

UV does have an effect on the Foam, and Flexible Resin, but it requires a significant amount of time and intensity for any color changes to occur, and in most cases the rocks will be overgrown with plant foliage long before any color shifting is visible. Also, as water and glass are very good at filtering out UV, the replicas being used in aquariums and vivariums helps to reduce the likelihood of color changes on your casts by your lights. The Polyresin is very stable against UV and I have not seen any color changes from casts made of the Polyresin yet, despite being outdoors in the South Texas sun for years. For animals that require high UV environments, I recommend the Polyresin.

The color, texture, and albedo (way light reflects off objects), is noticeably different between the casts made of the Foam vs the Flexible Resin/Polyresin. As such, I have organized the color options here to showcase the differences in colors/texture so you can see what your cast will look like, taking in consideration the material as well.
